Addgene Launches Transfection-Ready DNA Service to Accelerate Academic and Industry Research

Sourced from Addgene’s trusted repository, thousands of plasmids are now available to researchers as high-purity, NGS sequence-verified DNA

WATERTOWN, Mass., Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Addgene, a purpose-driven organization that joins with scientists around the world to reduce barriers to research and foster innovation, today announced the launch of its Transfection-Ready DNA service, enabling researchers to order NGS-sequence-verified DNA from Addgene’s repository of quality-controlled plasmids. Delivered ready to add directly into mammalian cell transfection mixes upon arrival, Transfection-Ready DNA eliminates the need for bacterial cultivation or in-house miniprep.

Addgene is launching the service with more than 27,000 plasmids available in the Transfection-Ready format across three of the most-requested areas of its collection: CRISPR, imaging and reporters, and gene expression. The repository grows by 1,000-1,500 new plasmids each month, and the Transfection-Ready catalog will continue to expand alongside it.

“Launched in response to feedback from the scientific community, Addgene’s Transfection-Ready DNA service will enable researchers to access the same plasmids they know and trust, now as high-purity, NGS-verified DNA,” said Greg Crescenzi, Vice President of Global Commercial Strategy and Partnerships at Addgene. “Importantly, our Transfection-Ready DNA is ready to pipette upon arrival, streamlining experiments and enabling scientists to advance innovation more efficiently.”

Every order arrives as purified plasmid DNA at a 1.0 µg/µL concentration and is available in 50 µg and 100 µg amounts, ready to add directly to a transfection reaction. Addgene has optimized the production process to ensure Transfection-Ready DNA consistently meets a low endotoxin specification of <1.0 EU/µg, supporting healthy cells and reliable transfections.

With whole-plasmid sequence verification applied to every order, Addgene’s hallmark quality control and customer support are built into the Transfection-Ready DNA service. Transfection-Ready DNA is now available to academic and industry researchers through Addgene's online catalog.
